Ethical Rock Collection Policy – consultation

We’re in the final stages of consulting on an Ethical Rock Collection Policy for Scotland, bringing together and highlighting guidance on the best way to collect samples – including rock cores and samples for surface exposure dating using cosmogenic nuclide analysis – in ways that preserves the aesthetic qualities of rock exposures, and does not damage or destroy their geoheritage value for future generations.

The draft policy is available here – scottishgeodiversityforum.org/charter/ethical-rock-collection/. Comments by end March to Angus Miller, chair@scottishgeodiversityforum.org.

The new policy will be supported by an online discussion and sharing forum to highlight good and bad examples – Rock Damage Scotland. Please like and share.
